A digital badge is recognition for learning outside of the typical classroom environment. It is verified by an external entity and is skills and experience based. It incentivizes learning, measures growth, and creates pathways to careers (Reelworks, 2020).
Educare Central Maine is partnering with Thomas College to offer digital badges for Early Childhood Education skills and knowledge.
To earn a digital badge, you will complete a professional development course led by Educare, a leader in high-quality early childhood education. During this practical instruction, you will develop the knowledge, behavior, and practices to meet the increasingly rigorous quality standards in early education.
Badges can be earned by completing any of the eight Essential Practices of Educare trainings. Digital badges represent achievements that can increase your employability by demonstrating the application of skills and knowledge in that area and can be shared widely on platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, via email, or embedded in a website.
