Kiana’s Story

Kiana before with momKiana began attending Educare in 2011 when she was three years old and enjoyed her time there until she transitioned to Kindergarten in 2013 at age 5. I remember clearly the graduation ceremony they held for all the pre-schoolers that were leaving Educare to transition into Kindergarten. Some of our favorite memories of our time at Educare are the evening family events that were held where families were able to do many activities together.  The Winter Wonderland Literacy Night really stands out as being an event Kiana and I enjoyed attending.

Kiana after in sunflower fieldKiana is now 13 and in the 7th grade.  She loves dance! She has been dancing since she was 2 1/2 years old and continues to take dance lessons as well as landing a spot on the dance team. She competed at StarQuest, a national level dance competition in March 2019 and received 5th place. She loves playing soccer, is artistic and loves all forms of art. I know Educare helped prepare my child to be successful in school. Realizing she learned things pretty quickly, her teachers at Educare always challenged her.  Today Kiana is a straight A student and has a goal to become an anesthesiologist.

I also want to recognize that Educare supported me tremendously as a parent while I attended nursing school. Educare staff helped me learn strategies on raising a child while being a full time student and a single parent.

I remember having to be at clinical very early in the morning and a teacher would meet me and Kiana at the front door so that I wouldn’t be late as I had to be in Augusta for 6:30 a.m.  Because of support like this, I was able to graduate in 2012 and earn my RN.
